"Shipping" refers to the phenomenon; a "ship" is the concept of a fictional couple; to "ship" a couple means to have an affinity for it in one way or another— (Wikipedia)

—and thus, this page is for the ships I have thoughts about beyond "I think they're cute."
But that's also a lie because this is also a place where I put headcanons about the characters involved in the ships even if they don't directly relate to the relationships themselves. I'm certain there will be ships I like that are not present here, simply because I've engaged with plenty of media.

Do note I'm not interested in proship or that sort of deal, I do not want to be in that nest of bees.

Fire Emblem Fates

Some of these are influenced by the Unofficial Fates Gay Hack, but not all of them (I'll note it in my thoughts about the ship.)
Spoilers for Fire Emblem Fates.

My thoughts about the second generation characters for Fire Emblem Fates is that I like them, but I think they were unnecessary. Especially narrative wise. I prefer thinking about them in an alternative universe where their parents have them after the war, but occasionally I'll talk about them specifically how they come to be in canon. I'll try to specify where I can if some information is specific to one or the other scenario.

Twisted Wonderland

I spent like 2 years of my life in a creative block for original stuff because of TWST HCing.
Spoilers for TWST main and side stories.

A note, for many of the headcanons for the TWST ships, I ported them over from my Tumblr. So if the tone and writing seems different for some of the HCs, that's probably why.

a

Corrin, King of Valla & Niles, Cruel to be Kind

Corrin and Niles ruled over the Kingdom of Valla together, ushering in a new era of peace. Niles became a leading politician and lawmaker in Valla. He remained close with Lord Leo his entire life.

Headcanons:

  • Niles is very careful about starting a family. It doesn't matter who his partner is, though he yearns for the closeness and intimacy that family can promise, he's also paralyzed by his issues of self-worth which leads him to asking "Am I allowed this luxury? Am I deserving of this?" With careful affirmation from Corrin, they both definitely start a family together that they're fiercely protective of.
    • Besides all the mess and awfulness that results due to having the kids and putting them in the Deeprealms, I would argue that it's OOC for Niles. He strikes me as the type to take a lot of deliberation before having kids or even considering them.
  • Niles being haunted by his past also results in him making himself more "boring" (as Nina would say) in front of the kids compared to around peers of his same age, wanting them to keep their innocence and not be forced to grow up. Corrin tends to be the one to indulge their kids more in letting them do things that make them feel "like a grown-up"/independent (ex. shopping on their own, listen to a few of the problems going on politically, etc.).

Camilla x Hinoka

Camilla, Bewitching Beauty & Hinoka, Warrior Princess

Camilla gave up her royal title and spent her days at home doting on her family. She adopted as many as 11 children with her wife, Hinoka, who became general of the Hoshidan royal army.

Leo x Takumi

a

Leo, Sorcerous Prince & Takumi, Wild Card

Leo sacrificed much for Nohr, leading the effort to spread King Xander's radical new policies. His husband, Takumi, grew into his position as a leader and prince, being a similarly crucial voice but to Hoshido's recovery.

Headcanons:

  • Both of them are trans, but Takumi is more at peace with himself compared to Leo. Leo's harsh reaction to Forrest stems with his own projection and unease, though he's mellowed out to not lash out at his son for the most part in the AU where the cast don't have children during the war. Though Takumi doesn't have strong dysphoria like Leo, he just prefers more masculine wear.
  • Kiragi prefers going on hunting trips with Takumi rather than Leo. Partially since that's just who he learned how to hunt from/with, partially because Leo has a tendency to try and hunt with magic in ways that are...less than ideal (ex. forcing aerial quarry to stay on the ground using increased gravity).

Sakura x Elise

A portrait of Sakura almost nervously smiling. A portrait of Elise looking overjoyed with her eyes closed.
A small animated sprite of Sakura, youngest princess of Hoshido from Fire Emblem Fates A small animated sprite of Elise, youngest princess of Nohr from Fire Emblem Fates

a

Sakura, Loving Priestess & Elise, Budding Flower

Sakura, dedicated herself to helping the underprivileged, while her wife, Elise, grew out of her childish ways into a talented healer of extraordinary compassion. The two worked happily together.

Headcanons:

  • Elise is transfem, and looks to Camilla as a role model for femininity. She's uneasy about her presentation on occasion, but less so about being feminine, and more about how people dismiss her as immature due to appearing girlish.
  • Sakura and Elise can play each other's instrument of choice (the koto and violin respectively), but they both agree they can't outdo the other.
  • The two of them love to exchange ribbons with each other. In fact, Elise knows how to make many types of them herself, either as accessories or adornments (the latter being good for selling flowers). Sakura is less knowledgeable about that form of craft, though knows some mizuhiki techniques that can service well enough.
  • Sakura has a preference for more earthy flavors of sweets, like azuki and mung bean. It's like she would pass up other sweets though.

Azura x Flora

A portrait of Azura smiling with her eyes closed. A portrait of Flora smiling softly.

A small animated sprite of Azura, the songstress deuteragonist from Fire Emblem Fates A small animated sprite of Shigure, canon son of Azura from Fire Emblem Fates A small animated sprite of Flora, one of the protagonists' retainer servants from Fire Emblem Fates

Blue haired women...but also I feel like they would find themselves relating to one another due to their similar experiences of being a hostage of where they lived for most of their lives. They both isolate themselves from the peers they grew up around due to learned helplessness. What's also interesting is how Flora will actively hide her true feelings, while Azura's aloofness is more passive.

Together, Azura is the flowing currents to Flora's ice floes, finding solace in each other's company. Flora's heart kept warm by songs sung by her new family, and Azura finding as if the freezing winds makes her solos into duets.

Azura, Lady of the Lake & Flora, Cold as Ice

There are few records of Azura beyond her marriage. With some being songs passed down by the Ice Tribe, where she, along with her wife Chieftian Flora, restored its independence and prosperity.

Headcanons:

  • Their son Shigure inherits Flora's tendency to chill the air around him when his emotions are heightened or he's particularly focused. Sometimes it dips so low that he'll find that his paints have frozen while he's focused on a piece. Shigure isn't pleased when this happens, especially if the paint has separated.
  • Though officially Azura is the Royal Advisor of Valla, she is also the Vallite representative in the Ice Tribe. It's not uncommon to see her talking with Flora about political matters, and some speculate that she pulls some strings to better support either Valla or the Ice Tribe.

Felicia x Lilith

A portrait of Felicia smiling gently. A portrait of Lilith in her humanoid form with a neutral smile.
A small animated sprite of Felicia, one of the protagonists' retainer servants from Fire Emblem Fates A small animated sprite of Lilith in her fish-like dragon form from Fire Emblem Fates

(Note: At this moment, I do not have access to Lilith's smiling human sprite so that's why she appears neutral)

a

Felicia, Maid Mayhem & Lilith, Devotee of Dragons

Lilith devoted herself to Corrin's service for the rest of time alongside her wife Felicia, who managed to overcome most of her clumsiness but broke a dish every now and then as a treat.

Keaton x Jakob

A portrait of Keaton with a wide grin while closing his eyes. A portrait of Jakob smiling with his eyes closed.
A portrait of Velouria smiling reservedly. A portrait of Dwyer smiling while looking upwards.

a

Keaton, Lupine Collector & Jakob, Devoted Servant

Keaton returned to his homeland. He frequently visited old friends and with his husband, Jakob, who frequently traveled between the mountain to his family and serving as a butler for the rest of his life.

Headcanons:

  • Keaton still keeps his collection of oddities and trash, but he and Jakob have an agreement to keep it confined to certain areas of their living space.
  • Jakob is mainly the parent who brushes and styles the kids’ hair. Both of said kids keep the habit of brushing and combing their hair/fur, but Dwyer doesn’t style it while Velouria does (even if she gets kinda greasy).
  • Housing situation postwar…it’s difficult to say since in every ending (aside from Corrin’s Revelations ending, which is nonspecified) Keaton goes back to Mount Garou to presumably continue being the leader of his pack, and Jakob continues being Corrin’s butler for the rest of his life. So what I’ll settle with is that Keaton stays at Mount Garou while Jakob cycles between staying there and going to Valla to serve Corrin.
  • Velouria, like many wolfskin, will like to display affection and to greet. Dwyer is not too fond of this and instead gives a kiss on both cheeks.
    • Dwyer's displeasure is unmatched by Jakob though, who only has tolerance for close family (and he still needs to wipe afterwards).
  • In the AU where the parents get to raise their kids instead of sending them through Advanced Time, Jakob is less caustic and more soft on Dwyer. Sure, he gets exasperated when he feels Dwyer isn't doing the utmost of what he feels Dwyer is capable of, but he's not spitting or hissing about it. He understands him a bit more, and lets his son rest more when fatigued.

Laslow, Dancing Duelist & Saizo, Angry Ninja

Laslow vanished after the war, but he inspired generations of dancers and rallied the spirits of many. His husband, Saizo, similarly disappeared from official records, but no doubt he served the royal family forever.

Selena/Severa x Oboro

A small animated sprite of Selena (alt. Severa), one of the retainers of Princess Camilla of Nohr from Fire Emblem Fates A small animated sprite of Oboro, one of the retainers of Prince Takumi of Hoshido from Fire Emblem Fates

First thing's first: they're fashion girls. Though Oboro is much less likely to easily spend money as the daughter of merchants, so she'll be able to scruff Selena from making redundant purchases.

Selena, Cutting Wit & Oboro, Fierce Fighter

After marrying, Selena and her wife, Oboro, disappeared from records. It's said that Oboro was able to open a tailor shop in honor of her late parents in foreign lands where Selena worked as a seamstress. They likely lived happily ever after.

Considering Benny's solo ending, it's fun to think he still continues to frolic around in the forest, but specifically in the forests around the kitsune hamlet (where Selkie often refers to playing as "frolicking").

Benny, Gentle Giant & Kaden, Kitsune Braggart

Benny was assigned to train new soldiers but soon left to travel with his husband, Kaden, who was busy returning favors everywhere he went. Later they settled in Kaden's village where he served as chief and the two of them could frolick in peace.

A small animated sprite of Kagero, one of the retainers of Prince Ryoma of Hoshido from Fire Emblem Fates A small animated sprite of Orochi, one of the former retainers of Queen Mikoto from Fire Emblem Fates

They're childhood friends! They're very different women in outward personality, with Kagero's calm quiet nature compared to Orochi's carefree boisterousness. They both however take their duties rather seriously, and are well aware that both are willing to die for what their positions entail. A mutual understanding of what the other might have to do, but also a promise that they'll still try and survive for each other.

Kagero, Traditional Ninja & Orochi, Secret Keeper

Kagero continued to serve Ryoma after he was crowned. Her wife, Orochi, was completely indispensable, both through her intelligence and her future sight. That said, they didn't have much time together due to their duties.

Hinata's passion for the blade did not end with the war. He practiced morning, noon, and night alongside his husband, Subaki, who was appointed chief of the pegasus knights and served with a perfect record.

Floyd Leech x Riddle Rosehearts

Ah Florid(a). Canonically, they have a hair-pulling dynamic. With Floyd trying to get a rise out of Riddle, and Riddle either incensed enough to retaliate or flee (and it often encourages Floyd to continue anyways). It's only one-sided for Floyd for the most part, as he's the only one to show interest in the other of the two and even when he's somewhat civil (such as in Real Talk, Chapter 1 of the first TWST Comic Anthology) Riddle dismisses it as a fluke.

The main reason why I like Florid is how much they differ, and how they develop and react in response to such differences. They can be seen as opposite extremes, with Floyd not caring for any sort of rule or responsibility unless they give satisfaction in the form of how entertaining and "fun" they turn out in the end (which is often chaotic), and Riddle's rigidity leaving him unable to see merit for things beyond his field of what's "acceptable." If they were to learn from each other, then perhaps Riddle could be more adventurous and open, and maybe Floyd could learn some responsibility and gain more patience for things that aren't fun.

A working relationship between these two (romantic or not) would be one that's full of plenty of push and pull. Stumbling over each other's toes with how different they are until they learn to tolerate and adapt to each other's discomforts/comforts. Ultimately to succeed, they both have to compromise.

Headcanons:

  • In the forms of the ship I’ve seen, it’s always Floyd who falls for Riddle first. It makes sense, considering how he seeks Riddle out without Riddle doing the same to him. The scenario of Riddle taking romantic interest first would be interesting, just kinda hard (or you have to set up a lot) to pull off convincingly in my opinion.
  • I know from the times I see Riddle in casual wear he’s dressed fancily while Floyd is more lax (aloha shirt Floyd is ever present, especially for future AU). But c’mon, Floyd is interested in fashion, he’ll happily experiment and help Riddle do too. Let’s go try stuff out Goldfishie~
  • Floyd feels like the type to just wrap his arms around someone (shoulders, waist, whatever’s more comfortable) and poke over their shoulder to look at what they’re doing. Riddle likes the physical contact, but takes some issue with it if Floyd braces his entire weight on him.
  • For future AU, as much as I hate drawing that sort of style, Floyd strikes me as someone who has his hair slicked back. Riddle…hmm. I can see his side-bang being tucked back like his suitor outfit, but I prefer him growing his hair out long enough to make a braid or bun (think Artori/a from Fate or Violet from Violet E/vergarden). Either way, they brush and do each other’s hair on occasion.
  • Speaking of which, the future AU I share with my besties, Riddle is an advising lawyer (not sure which category, but if I remember correctly I was leaning toward criminal defense) while Floyd is mostly a househusband (super funny to think about) who occasionally takes jobs from Jade for the Leech business. Floyd calls it commission work (which is how they file it in taxes) and Riddle takes a deep sigh.
  • Like to think that they live on the coast in the Queendom in the future. Beachy.
  • I have NO IDEA if the horses in equestrian club belong to NRC, but fuck it we ball. Vorpal come here, let’s rent a stall in a nice barn for you that we can visit. Not surprised if Florid ends up with a lot of pets in their care, they would probably keep hedgehogs.
  • Riddle has a Ebenezer Scrouge nightgown he goes to bed in. That or pajama sets. Snork, mimimimi. Floyd dresses in whatever the fuck to sleep. Either way Floyd is either squeezing Riddle like a teddy bear or taking up the entire bed.
  • I like to think that it’s traditional wear for young girls in the Queendom is wear dresses similar to the iconic Alice dress. If Florid has daughters, Riddle is going to put them in those dresses (it’s nostalgic for him to see when combined with the transmasc HC).
  • Floyd would for sure do that thing where you toss kids up in the air to catch them. Riddle isn’t too pleased if he goes too high.
  • If they get a big bed with space underneath the frame, definitely feel like if they have kids those kids will squeeze under there themselves. Eels like dark, small spaces, just look at how they’ll pile up in a tube or pipe. Grabs a dad’s ankle, the little gremlins.
  • Bouncing off of demisexual HC, but after relationship development that leads to the both of them better understanding/knowing the other (this has to do more with an idea I have for a story but honestly could apply to any scenario where they get closer)...Riddle realizing he finds Floyd attractive and handsome. The attempt to brush it off as him finding the type he likes and thus looking deeper, only to realize “It’s just Floyd,” that’s the factor.
  • Floyd and Riddle talking about respective subjects they’re both knowledgeable and interested in. Riddle listening intently about Floyd’s stories from home, how things are different in the Coral Sea, the promise of being whisked away off his feet to come see it for himself...On the flip side, Floyd looking on with sharp eyes as Riddle talks at length about hedgehogs, small and prickly critters that he would look after with an attentive care. A sort of fondness that leaks through, the doting and patience which he has for the skittish animals being apparent. While it can be entertaining to watch Riddle go off, there’s something endearing hearing someone you love speak so strongly from the heart.
  • Also I think it would be fun if Floyd just finds small things interesting. Scuttling about and all when he himself is so big.
  • Speaking of Florid. To have the desire to be wanted, to the point of someone crying out and reaching for you so sincerely because they care for you so dearly...uncaring of if they look improper. Maybe it’s more dramatic than it sounds, but the idea of Floyd unabashedly wanting Riddle’s company, heedless if he appears proper or like he’s unpresentable...ahh.
  • Meanwhile, the gutsiness which Riddle has calls out to Floyd, and his interest at first is like playing chicken with fire. The feistiness and passion is thrilling, and eventually he finds that it’s infectious going alongside/supporting Riddle instead of just feeding the flames by provoking him (needs development to get to that point I feel but rattles the bars thinking about slowburn hell).
  • Post-NRC Floyd is noticeably taller than Jade, specifically 210cm/6'11". He's also rectangular in body shape and has hands big and strong enough to crush a watermelon without much (if any) assistance. Riddle on the other hand hasn't grown taller at all (if we're generous. Maybe a few centimeters) and simply gets less spindly. Riddle's face would be more sharp however, a bit more of the typical [ikeman] than [moe blob].
  • Riddle post-NRC is the type to take early morning jogs. The air would be brisk enough to wake him up, and with his career being sendentary it would be good for him to continue to be active. Floyd occasionally joins him on said jogs, but really it depends if he's feeling up for 1. waking up early, 2. moving, and 3. being smelly/showering afterwards.

Trey Clover x Jade Leech

a

Headcanons:

  • Firstly the thought of both eels being the type to just. Bite (affectionate). The warning that comes before it is a perfectly cute seeming nuzzle. It’s nothing graphic, but owie ow. Trey tanks the hit.
  • Trey is the type to use terms of endearment and nicknames which are also sweets like “Sweetheart,” “Honey,” and “Sugar.” Meanwhile Jade is more likely to use things such as “My Dear,” “Amore haha a moray mio,” and “Darling.”
  • Jade is particular about sweets, preferring more subtle or desserts/treats that aren’t overly sweet or sugary. Trey noticed and takes that into account when making or sharing treats with him, and he tends to gift baked goods which pair nicely with tea to Jade.
  • Although Trey wanted to live a peaceful life by appearing and acting as ordinary as he can, he ends up living a...kinda peaceful life with Jade anyways. On one hand, he’s now tied up with whatever the hell is going on with the Leech family, and any drama that results from that, but on the other hand. When you have a big fish who’s taken a liking to you, sometimes that big fish scares away most things that would be bothersome.
  • I think it would be funny if when they get older, Jade and Trey have a stranglehold in the Homeowners’ Association (or whatever equivalent). Sliding their way into the good graces while putting pressure on more unreasonable demands and rules. If they get hit with complaints from HOA, feel like they would be petty enough to scour the rules to tear people a new one (calling up Riddle to help go through it too) and generally establish that they won’t have any bullshit interfering with their peaceful home.
Speaking of which, they know and are well-acquainted with the fellow gardeners in the neighborhood. Hi there. Let’s exchange produce.
  • Jade is freakishly tall post-NRC, not as high as Floyd but still pretty sizeable (203cm/6'8"). Makes up for it by being more broad-shouldered than Floyd though, and he still goes on hikes for fun, so wouldn't be surprised if he has the same pursuing stamina as a horror game monster. Trey isn't as terrifying compared to Jade, but he also gets broader and bulkier than his high school days.
In certain circumstances (ie. being caught without glasses) Trey gets mistaken by Leech associates as a bodyguard or powerhouse though. It doesn't help he gets burns from being a baker and elvers aren't careful about drawing blood/scarring, so—whether he wants to or not—he fits right in.
  • Trey is FASCINATED by Jade's teeth. It's just so different from what he's used to AND he has another row of teeth. Jade is delighted. Everyone else treats it as scandalous.
